Which parts of Liro use AI, which providers see what, what they may do with it, and how to turn it off.

Where Liro uses AI

Liro uses AI for five things: turning your voice into text, turning that text (or a photo) into a task with a date, time and category, the planning chat ("Plan with Liro"), answering questions about your tasks, and estimating how long a task takes. Everything else — your list, reminders, the Plan, Focus, Liro's world — works without AI.

You decide first

Nothing is sent to an AI provider until you agree on the consent screen that names the providers. You can turn AI processing off at any time in Settings → Capture → AI processing. AI features need a signed-in account with Liro Pro (the free trial counts); guest accounts never use them.

Who sees what

Groq (United States). Receives voice recordings to transcribe them, and — only when Gemini is unavailable — the same text Gemini would get. Groq runs with zero data retention for our account: it does not store or train on what we send.

Google Gemini (United States). Receives the transcript or typed text you want turned into a task, task photos, your planning-chat messages, and the tasks needed to answer them. We use the Google Gemini API on Google's paid terms. Under those terms Google does not use this content to train or improve its models or products. Please don't put passwords, health details or other sensitive information in tasks you send to AI.

On your device. If online transcription isn't available, iOS speech recognition may transcribe on your iPhone instead.

Voice recordings are deleted right after transcription unless you turn on "Keep my recordings". We never use your content to train our own models, and calendar data is never sent to AI.

Limits and accuracy

AI can be wrong: it may mishear words, choose the wrong day, or suggest a plan that doesn't suit you. Liro shows you what it understood so you can fix it, and nothing is final until you keep it. AI output is not professional advice. To keep the service fair and affordable, each account has daily AI limits; see the Terms.

You are talking to software

The planning chat is an AI system, not a person. Liro the dormouse is a character voiced by that system.
